A "State of the World" Lament

Back in art class, circa 9th grade, we were given an assignment to draw/color/whatever what we thought the world would be like in 100 years. I drew a world with poisoned oceans -- purple was the color I chose to represent that. Gone were the days of verdant lands and deep blue oceans; humanity made ...

A quick braindump on masking and vaccinations

I don't get the current widespread anti-science/anti-healthcare views being taken by so many people, particularly in America, regarding how we're combating the COVID-19 pandemic. It breaks my heart seeing so many people I know coming out loudly and proudly as anti-vaxx on Facebook. I just wanna shak...

Re: Favorite exercises for someone with sucky lungs?

I was racking my brain trying to think how you ended up here again! Yeah, I pop into phpbb.com on rare occasions, and more rarely do I post but I'm glad I did. I was sitting here like "maybe he just checks the URL on occasion, hoping for the site to come back?" LOL But here it is! I'll che...

Why do Christians Practice Apologetics?

Why do Christians practice apologetics? I'm not saying this to scoff or mock, but it seems to me to be literally a waste of time. According to the Bible , there are two types of people: believers and unbelievers. Unbelievers are said to be "spiritually dead," while believers have been quic...

Re: Kinda obsessing with my new bumper sticker

It’s fine! It’s an oval vanity plate. I wanted a black oval to contrast better with my car but someone already had that one.

Favorite exercises for someone with sucky lungs?

I'd like to lose 30 pounds. I could stand to lose dang near 40–50, which would get me back to around my high school weight and the weight considered "normal" for my height. A couple of years ago, I tried running, almost daily, using the app Couch to 5K, but found it frustrating because of ...

What Makes a "Good Person"?

Is it enough to live a life not actively causing harm to others? What makes a good Christian or Muslim or Hindu, etc.? Are the answers different than a general answer? How much so? Does being a "good person" require actively working toward the good of others? Of the environment? Of... some...

Re: Agnosticism and Where It Sits on the Spectrum

I'm the same way. If I can't know something with absolute certainty, agnosticism is the only rational position. "Mostly sure" is still an agnostic statement, after all.
