BCE/CE, the new standard

The AFA has a survey/petition concerning whether or not BC/AD markers for time (Before Christ/Anno Domini) should be made America’s “official” year descriptors.

Apparently, the Kentucky Board of Education has opted instead to use the BCE/CE (Before Common Era/Common Era) descriptors as a secular alternative that no longer divides history based upon the life of Christ.

Does anyone else see the stupidity in this? Simply changing the name does not change the fact that history is still divided based upon Christ. 1 BCE will still be the same as 1 BC, and 2006 CE will still be the same as AD 2006. History will still be divided the same.

Not only that, but the new descriptors are pretty biblically accurate. Before Christ, God was “uncommon.” He associated mainly with the Jews and kept them at the forefront of His workings. In Christ, God has become “common,” available to everyone who will call upon Him through Christ.

… I guess if anyone from the ACLU reads this, new descriptors will be thought up “just in case” my way of thinking isn’t, well, uncommon.

Like it or not, God has forever divided history by sending His Son to seek and to save that which was lost. No men could ever undo the impression Christ has made and is making on our world.
